In 2017, Carr Gomm’s CG100 campaign raised £50,000 to fund projects and activities designed to tackle social isolation and loneliness in communities across Scotland.
Amongst the delighted recipients of this funding were our Glasgow North East team based in the Arran Centre in Glasgow. As part of Carr Gomm’s Integrated Services, the team works closely with Social Work and Health Board colleagues to provide short-term support to people with severe and enduring mental health problems.
Thanks to funding from the CG100, the people supported through this service will be able to enjoy different activities and trips away throughout the summer, providing many with the opportunity to try something that wouldn’t usually be open to them. With options including a ‘Trip Doon the Water to Largs’, Afternoon Tea and a visit to Glasgow Central Mosque, it’s obvious the team is casting its net far and wide to ensure as many people as possible benefit.
They have even incorporated their own Team Carr Gomm fundraising activities into the summer plans with a BBQ in Mugdock Country Park followed by a two mile walk around the park!
Sandra McKie, service manager for Glasgow North East pictured below with her team, told us:
“Without funding from the CG100, our summer programme wouldn’t be taking place. The trips and activities will mean people have the chance to come together, build friendships and confidence, all whilst having a great day out. All of this is vital to tackling social isolation and loneliness”.
By joining Team Carr Gomm and raising money you’ll be directly helping to Stomp out Loneliness in Glasgow and throughout Scotland.
